| The Constellation lawn-darted at the end of its maiden flight on February 12, 2005. The cause of the failure was a defective Estes A8-5; there was no ejection charge. Inspection showed the cap at the aft end of the motor was still intact. Following procedure, I filed a MESS report with the NAR. Here is the damage to the rocket: |

| The damage was repaired by cutting away the crumpled portion of the body tube and by replacing the payload section with a red plastic tube and black coupler from Custom (I didn't have a clear plastic BT-50 tube available), and an Estes NC-50 nose cone. Of course, the repaired model looks nothing like the original Constellation. A new one will have to be cloned once I get the proper parts. |
